Post-Jam #1 - Colors??


As the voting period comes to a close, I post the tiny update I worked on while playing and rating other games.

The Jam version is still gonna be available for Windows for those who want to check out exactly how it was at the end of the Jam.

Here are the changes:


Bugs/Fixes

  • Exit button moved to corner of screen
  • Game scene will now load particles at the start of the scene so there in no stutter on the first enemy kill. 
  • Spawn timer should now be attached to physics time so late waves won't be delayed by framerate

Features

  • Color-palettes! Some of them I did for visual accessibility, like making colors paler, darker, adjusting glow, and using perceptually uniform colors (matplotlib viridis, cividis, etc...). Some others are for aesthetics/fun, such as the red, hot, cold and ink style

For the future

  • I think the main thing to think about in terms of expanding the game is pickups. Not only were they  suggested during the jam, they're a staple of bullet hell games. They would obviously have to do with size, as everything in this jam, and I already have a few ideas:
    • Big bullets
    • Some timer that makes everyone size 1 for a little bit (and probably prevents merges)
    • Massive pellet pull
    • Freeze the arena for a little bit (time/certain number of hits)
  • Input support is always a late thing I want to add to my games:
    • Controllers should be easy, since they have many buttons and for moving/shooting I can just adopt the twinstick control scheme
    • Mobile might be tricky, but since I realized I can play this  on the phone, I'll look up how to implement that.

We'll see what I come up with!
